Tour Highlight: Akagera National Park

The Sunset boat cruise is offered daily on Lake Ihema which is one of the largest lakes in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park. It takes one hour with an experienced guide across the lake to explore the forest-fringed shores to see some of the 480 bird species.

This park is home to some rare and unique birdlife like the iconic African fish eagle and large flocks of crowned cranes, the Carruther’s Cisticola etc

You will also see hippos, crocodiles, herds of buffalo, topis etc. We will drive to the jetty to meet an Akagera park guide, who will accompany you for the duration of the cruise. The guide will give you a safety briefing prior to getting on the water, and full instruction. The maximum group size is usually 10 people, depending on the size of boat used, accompanied by 1 or 2 guides. There are no meals included on this trip except some drinking water
