7 Days Rwanda highlight safari tour itinerary

Day 1: Bwindi National Park

Morning drive to Bwindi National park, the home to mountain gorillas. You will also receive instructions for the trip from our guides. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Haven Lodge or similar

Day 2 Bwindi National Park Gorilla Tracking Adventure

After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing by the park officials about gorilla trekking. Bwindi National Park is renowned for its impressive mountain gorillas, although it is unpredictable for how long you will track before finding them since it all depends on their movement. After seeing them, you are allowed to spend one hour for observation and photos.

You will return to the lodge for lunch after tracking. In the evening, you will proceed to the village for an optional cultural walk to interact with the local people and participate in captivating traditional performances. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay after. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Haven Lodge or similar

Day 3: Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred by road to Akagera National Park. On arrival you will have lunch at the lodge and will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Ihema in the afternoon in which you will have an opportunity to spot several animals. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge or similar

Day 4 Akagera National Park Game drives in the Park

After breakfast, you will start an early morning game drive with a packed lunch. You will drive through the park in search of elephants, buffalos, giraffe, zebras, leopards, hyenas, lions. You will also spot several antelopes like bushbucks, Topis, Oribis, water-buck and Impalas. You will have time to relaxation and lunch. You will continue with the game drive after in search of other animals. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge or similar

 

Day 5 Nyungwe Forest National park

After breakfast, drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Nyungwe forest national park is Rwanda’s leading chimpanzee tracking safari destination for primates and birding tour. This forest, the largest mountain rainforest in all of Africa, hosts 13 species of primates including the Angola colobus found in groups of 300-400 animals that is an attribute unique to Nyungwe. On arrival, you will have lunch and will enjoy an optional walk to Gisakura tea estates after. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel or similar

Day 6 Nyungwe Forest National park

Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk

After breakfast transfer, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the “dos and don’ts” while with the chimps in the forest. Your guide will transfer you to the starting point for Chimps tracking. You’ll encounter the chimpanzees and may spot other primates like the black and white monkeys and various bird species along the trail. You will return to the lodge for lunch. You will enjoy the canopy walk in the forest in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel or similar

Day 7 Kigali

Transfer to Kigali City

After breakfast, drive to Kigali and if time allows, you will have a visit to the genocide memorial site. Transfer to the airport
