10 Days Best of Family tour itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Cairo

Upon arrival in Cairo airport, you will be met and greeted by our team and transferred to the hotel in our air-conditioned vehicle. After the check-in, you will have a brief meeting to review your holiday program. Overnight in Cairo at Le Méridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa or similar

Day 2: Pyramids / Museum tours

After breakfast, drive to Giza Plateau to visit one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, the Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus, famous Sphinx, and Valley Temple facing the great statue. You will have lunch at one of the local restaurants. After lunch, visit the Egyptian Museum then proceed to the Islamic Cairo to visit Khan El Khalili, which is the Cairo’s old bazaar. Late afternoon, transfer to your hotel. Overnight at Hilton Pyramids Golf Hotel or similar

Day 3: Cairo Churches’ tours

After breakfast, you will visit Cairo churches which include the Church of the Virgin Mary in Ma’adi, the Hanging Church and St. Sergius, the Church of St. George and the Fortress of Babylon in Old Cairo. You will enjoy your lunch in one of the local restaurants. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.

Day 4: Cairo Churches’ tours

After breakfast, proceed to El Matariya (Ancient Heliopolis Area) to visit the holy tree “Mary’s Tree” which is believed that the holy family rested under its shade and where child Jesus caused water to flow from a spring from which he drank to arouse this tree. Proceed to the aromatic plant with a beautiful scent called balsam. This plant is added in all perfumes that make them Swab or Myron oil. This oil is used in church rituals. Later, proceed to Church of the Virgin Mary in Zeiton area. Italian artists painted the Church with carvings of Jesus and the Virgin. Dinner and overnight in your hotel or similar

Day 5: Cairo / Mostorad / Kafr El Sheikh

After breakfast, proceed with packed lunch to visit Mostorad known as “El Mahamaah” which means the bathing place because Virgin Mary bathed in the child Jesus and washed his clothes. You will proceed to the small village of Meniet Samanoud, where the locals greeted the holy Family with warmth & hospitality, and the Christ blessed them & hallowed its water spring in return. The remains of this ancient church are buried under the currently existing church of St. Abanoub church. You will see a huge granite trough which is claimed that the virgin used it for kneading. You will proceed to Sakha town near to Kafr El Sheikh. The Coptic name of the town is Pekha – Issous” meaning “The Foot of Jesus”. Its name is originated from the foot print of the Christ appeared on a stone on which he set his foot. Later, you will see the Church of the Virgin Mary that reserves a rock with the footprints of the child Jesus. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.

 Day 6: Tel Basta / Tanis / Ismailia

After breakfast, we will continue to visit the town of Babastis (Tel-Basta) where Jesus caused the flow of a spring of water to drink, visit Tanis which is the main capital of 26th dynasty. Later, visit the small museum, Ramses Temple and the royal tombs. Later drive to Ismailia for lunch. Dinner and overnight in Ismailia.

Day 7: Red Sea / Jabal Al Tair / El Minya

After breakfast, you will drive south along the coast to visit the 2 Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul which were built in the 4th century AD. St Anthony Monastery is considered as the biggest monastery in Egypt. The church of St. Anthony was built over the saint’s tomb. St. Paul is a relatively younger monastery with stunning artifacts and is considered the 1st monk ever. Later proceed to Upper Egypt to arrive at Jabal Al Tair (the Birds Mountain) near to El Minya city. It is believed that this is the cave where the holy family rested inside and is currently situated inside the Ancient Church. Dinner and Overnight in El Minya

Day 8: Tuna El-Gabal / Al Ashmunien (Hermopolis) / Tell El Amarna / Assuit

After breakfast, you will depart to the necropolis of Tuna El Gabal, home of the crypts of baboons and Ibis that represent the god Thoth, the tomb of Isadora, the tomb of the priest Pet-Osiers, the ancient water wheel and the boundary stele of the city of the Aton. You will have your lunch in one of local restaurants then proceed to Al-Ashmunien to visit the open museum with the 2 colossal baboon statues and the ruins of the basilica church with its Rose granite columns. Later, you will visit the site of Beni Hasan which is located on the Eastern Bank of the Nile. Here, you will see the standing out rock-cut tombs with scenes depicting the life of the Middle Kingdom. Later, drive to Assuit. Dinner and Overnight at Assiutel Hotel or similar in Assuit

Day 9: Assuit / Cairo

After breakfast in Assuit, proceed to visit Al Muharraq Monastery where the Holy Family is believed to have stayed for 6 months and 10 days, being the longest period spent at the same site. It is believed that it is here where the holy family received the divine message to go back to Palestine. Some 8 Km west of the monastery, there is the rock-cut tombs of Miar belonging to the nobles and the rulers during the 6th and 12th dynasties. Later, transfer back to your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Cairo

Day 10: Departure

After breakfast, transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight back home
